What makes this possible?
The undersaddle pickup and onboard preamp of the Soundwave transfer an electric current to a transducer device attached to the inside of the ukulele's back. This little actuator physically drives the ukulele body, causing it to behave like a large speaker cone.

Or, to put it another way, you can amplify your ukulele without needing an amplifier and add reverb, chorus, or delay to the acoustic sound.

Flight is a Slovenian firm specialising in ukuleles and, most recently, pickups. When you press the Trans button on the preamp, the Soundwave system is activated, and the real fun begins. The Soundwave pickup produces a great, clear sound with no effect.

The signal is routed to the amp if you're connected to an amplification system, but if you're not, the onboard actuator enables you to add some amplification, which you can modify using the volume control.

The effect becomes noticeable when the volume control is set to about a quarter, and it's helpful up to about 7 or 8 until the system begins to drive the body so hard that the body begins to feed back!!!
