These high-tension U•BASS® strings offer a timbre and manoeuvrability akin to the double bass. Smooth to the touch, the chrome flat wound tape allows your fingers to glide around the fretboard and helps protect the neck from wear and tear—perfect for any acoustic fretted or fretless U•BASS®:

A wonderful transformation for my little ‘Mojo’. I’m used to playing FWs on Fender Mustang shortie and these are exactly what I needed to get me onto the uke. The sound is amazing and different especially when listening with headphones. So happy even though pricey. I also recommended these to a friend and waiting to have some feedback from her.

I got myself a Kala Scout Ubass which comes with Aquila Thunderblacks. As a bass player, I found them "interesting". Most of my other basses have flatwounds so I tracked down these Gallistrings at UkuleleTradingCo. They are ridiculously pricey no matter where you buy them. Somehow in Australia we get slugged real hard. but Chris' price was fair in the current market. The strings – WOW what a transformation. Silky smooth, great tuning at the 12th fret. Nut will need a bit more work to have the strings sit just right. Truss rod obviously had to be tightened up. But what a serious sound! With a bit of palm work or different picking styles they are capable of producing a great range of useable sounds. And if you are a flatwound junky like me they will instantly put a smile on your face. To all the fence-sitters out there worrying about the price, jump and get them, you will be thrilled by them. Oh, and Chris put a great little sticker on the packing – it even made the post office staff laugh!

Brilliant service again from the Ukulele Trading Co, and these new flatwound bass strings are terrific. They are very comfortable and sound great, without the usual noises you get with traditional wire wound strings. Excellent!
